Religion Reloaded

This blog post is considered a major taboo for some whereas for others it’s such a banal subject that they may not even take the time to read it.

Religion can be defined as a” specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons”.

Considering this definition I ask the most basic question: aren’t all religions established on the fundamental beliefs of charity, honesty, doing good deeds to others and so on?

The way may be different but the purpose is the same for me: to be a good and respectful human being. I can’t understand extremist who take religion to such extents as genocides and intolerance.

Why so many people are walking away from religion and becoming atheists? Well they do have a point concerning the religious fanatics and the main problem with mass religion that is to say the blinded followers who don’t even think by themselves.

However in the battle of religion vs. science, for me both have unfilled gaps, where one gives some satisfactory explanations and analysis the other fails. But to some extent they do converge in some points: yes so different yet so alike at the same time.

Science believes in the material world while religion is an untouched but felt energy, both trying to explain the universe, our existence and what lies beyond.
Science wants to prove, see and touch everything while religion is unseen and untouchable but in the end both dismiss what cannot be explained.

When the obvious and idealistic solution would be to collaborate together, metaphysics and philosophy were rudimentary approaches that tried and still try to establish a connection between the materialistic and none materialistic world.

Be spiritual, our mind and body need this connection with the divine, be rational, think and ask questions.  There are still so many things we do not understand in our world and particularly about our existence.
Whatever, you think about religion or whatever your religion is: extremism is not needed, what you belief is your own conviction do not force it on other , live and lead by example and you will get partisans and sympathy much more than by force.

In the end, our passage here on earth is just a phase, what was before and what lies ahead is still the big question.
